The very scarce 'New Edition' of this work, complete in two volumes, bound in one.A wonderful work from English composer and organist William Croft, first published in the early eighteenth century as 'Musica Sacra', only a year before Croft's early death.The music in this volume is for solo voices, chorus and figured bass, and for two, three, four, five, six, seven and eight voices.With an engraved title page to each volume, with the inscription '1830' to each title page head, and small removal of paper to each title page head.This includes the 'Burial Service', which may have been written for Queen Anne or for the Duke of Marlborough, and is still used in today's Anglican communion, 'composed by my predecessor, the famous Mr. Henry Purcell, to which, in justice to his memory&apos. In a half morocco binding, with cloth covered boards. Significant rubbing to back strip head and tail and joints, with joint heads and tails starting, and boards a touch tender.
